Dream Walker Kennels
Dream Walker Kennels has always been the ultimate goal in life. With the support of family, friends and most of all, the dogs that make this all possible it is much more than a dream.
In September of 2014 Dream Walker was born with Mangabee, PJ, Dashboard, and Diesel. This is when the dream became a reality.
At Dream Walker we prefer the old freight sled dog mixed with some of the smaller race dog and like our dogs to be in the 55-80 pound range. We strive for a dog with endurance, speed and intelligence .
Our ultimate goal for our kennel is to make a name for ourselves with the quality of puppies we produce and our racing career.
Meet the Musher
My name is Victoria Tenney and I am 24 years old. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia. From a very young age I have been obsessed with mushing, I was so young that my parents didn't know where it came from.
In school I read everything I could find about mushing, did my English reports on Libby Riddles, and even ran my English Springer Spaniel on roller blades. I remember even bringing my dogsled to school and doing a "how to" report on dog mushing.
In 2003, my family drove from Atlanta,GA to Anchorage,AK and we spent the summer in the Mat-Su valley and Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park. While there, I was able to visit the Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla and I knew Alaska was where I needed to be.
On my 15th birthday, my parents gave me a dog sled and I slept in the basket for weeks. We even attempted to take my lab and two English Springer Spaniels mushing although we failed. I held onto the dream through high school and two years of college. I then transferred up to the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After doing poorly for two semesters, I threw in the towel in thoughts of returning. Now I am taking this mushing dream by the handle bar and running with it.
I have read countless books about race strategies, how to care for your dogs, dog yard care, etc. I am learning that mushing, like med school, even if you read the books you don't know a lot when it comes to real life scenarios.
Come this September, this will mark my 4th year running dogs.
